A brief history of the school

His Excellency Rt, Rev. Dr. George M. Anathil, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Indore dreamt of imparting education rooted in the Gospel values to the children of Jaora and thereby he entrusted the mission on the shoulders of Rev. Fr. Thomas Marathil and the Sisters of the Congregation of the Teresian Carmelites. As a result, St. Peter’s Sr. Sc. School, Jaora was established on 18th July 1997 though the dream of establishing the school was being nurtured since 1995. The seed that was sowed by the pioneers sprouted and took root in the soil of the town slowly and steadily. Even in its infancy stage, the school was a force to be reckoned with, as the young learners of the city grew up in knowledge, wisdom and moral rectitude. After five long years of selfless service and commitment, Fr. Thomas Marathil passed on the responsibility to Fr. George PA on 1st June 2002, who indeed gave a right direction to the school. His tenure of three years of service was undoubtedly a period of transition and development in every aspect as the school kept growing to greater heights. All the same, one cannot ignore the remarkable contributions of Sr. Elsina CTC, Sr. Celine CTC, Sr. Fathima CTC, Sr. Elsita CTC and Sr. Bartholda CTC during these eight years of growth and development.

As a matter of fact, the birth of Jhabua Diocese on 25th March 2002 was another added advantage to the growth of the school as better concentration was provided to the school by the newly bifurcated diocese. Following the footsteps of Bp. George M Anathil, His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Chacko Thottumarickal SVD, the newly appointed Bishop of the new-born diocese, stressed on the development of the school along with quality of the education rooted in the Gospel values. On 16 June 2005, Fr. Charles SVD took up the responsibility of steering the ship (school) for a short period of one year. However, he continued the ground work of his predecessor to get the status of CBSE affiliation.

Yet again the school witnessed the appointment of Fr. Varghese KC as the Manager and Sr. Hymna CTC as the Principal of the school in June 2006 and along with the change in the administration the school also acquired the status of High School and got the NOC from the State Board for the CBSE affiliation. The hard work and the unfailing spirit of Sr. Hymna CTC finally brought the school the status of CBSE on 22nd March 2007. Three years of dedicated service of Sr. Hymna CTC took the school from one realm of excellence to another. The appointment of the new Bishop His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Devprasad John Ganawa in June 2009 was indeed a great blessing to the school and the children and so was the appointment of the new principal, Sr. Maria Goretti CTC, as she committed herself for the cause of the children and school with untiring spirit. During her tenure as the principal, the school attained the status of Senior Secondary.

However, in the last seventeen years of growth and transition, everyone has contributed his/her share of hard work to the development of the children and school at large. As a result the school has now become well-equipped, full-fledged and still on the path achieving greater heights. The journey continues and so does the search for excellence.
